The Season Starts Now.

I posted something like this for Opening Day 2004... I'm curious to see if Sox fans, as a group, are any less insane now than they were then. I know I'm not.

In 2004, my dad and I had the rally ice cream (which we also had in 2003, but it didn't work so well that year). They don't make the right flavor any more (which I'm convinced is some sort of conspiracy) so I'm not really sure what the rally item will be this year. It will probably be whatever I happen to be eating/holding/doing the first time they rally back.

Having hunted for that post, I have now re-read (for the millionth time) all my posts from that post-season... and I was *definitely* more psycho then. But there's still time.

I think it's a fairly big thing among the redsox community. I do not participate, typically, but I don't think it's a bad idea. I mean, CJ and I have had rally sex before (which, highly recommended: even if it doesn't work, it's hard to be too upset because you just got laid!) so...

For the Friday game of the Yankees series, I did anti-jinks. I wore all my Cardinals gear. Well, when things started going south, I knew that the pants weren't long for my body.

For clothing, I have to be wearing a minimum of two Sox items. Earrings and hat, socks and shirt, whatever. It doesn't matter which two.

If something bad happens during the game, I relocate to another room until something good happens (upon which I may return to my room, where I started). Otherwise I cannot leave my room during an inning.

One thing I'm going to try this postseason is maintaining a certain position if it seems to be good luck. Remember the back-to-back-to-back-to-back HRs earlier this year? I was laying on my stomach, looking upside-down under the bed for my pen for the first three, and stayed there for the fourth (and then had to stop because the blood was rushing to my head something awful).

I definitely do the 'maintain the position' thing. It's not even really conscious at this point... and it caused me to need a chiropractor after Clay Buchholz's no hitter.

I have to wear my blank jersey with the All-Star patch, and I'll put the TV on mute if I'm getting too anxious about the game.

There was no place for "Chocolate Cake Mojo," which we established in the first Sox/Yankees series this season in the Red Sox chat. My birthday had recently passed and I'd barely touched my cake. I had a slice, we won a game. I picked apart the cake over the rest of the series. Unfortunately, I devastated the cake and have since had to resort to Hostess Cupcakes which only seem to account for "Get a man to third mojo" and I have to rely on the Sox for the rest.

Also, I developed an idiosynchrosy early on. Whenever a Sox pitcher had two strikes on a Yankee batter (It only works with the Yankees), I would rhythmically tap the "." key in a continually quickening pace until the ball was thrown at which point I'd hit enter. I only allowed myself to do it once per inning, but it had like an 80% success rate.

I also used to bring good OGP Mojo, but my OGP Mojo completely fell to shit and I don't think they've won on one of my OGPs since the All Star Break.

I'm a little supersticious.

Also, I have a pair of Red Sox socks that are only to be worn on off days. They are bad mojo for game day, but when worn on a single off day, they provide happy funtime good luck (Yeah, I know it's all a load, but it's my rituals).

I'm still trying to figure out what I did wrong when Schill lost the no-hitter. I was walking through most of the game.

This list is fantastic... I love Hostess cupcakes, and now I have an excuse to eat them! Get a man to 3B mojo! I believe that and the chocolate cake would fall under special foods. :)
