mishmash - dish tv, buffy, and politics

Just me rambling. I'm getting the hang of using the journal to just download any random thoughts...

I'm loving satellite tv. I got the cheapest package but it's so cool to tape shows without the whole programming headhurt. I'm discovering this HGTV show where people redo their houses so they can sell them for a higher price. Some houses where people have lived for years have Nothing on their walls, and often All the walls are institutional white. What kind of people do that?? Do they really not notice that they live in a space devoid of life, not to mention butt ugly? These people are not poor either, just lacking in rods and cones, i think.

I've been watching the Buffy series on DVD. From web comments i've gathered that Season 6&7 are hotly debated. So i'm excited to have a preliminary opinion of S6 (watched disk1 last night) - love it. Yes, dark and twisted characters - the seeds of Willow going bad is there, yikes! Pet peeve - seems like most vamps can be killed like regular people - set on fire, decapitated, etc. But Spike was plunged with a plastic knife into his heart (by Riley) and survived. Do vamps need a wooden stake into the heart to be killed or not??

The weather has been fabulous. The rest of the world may be on fire from global warming but we are generally in the mid 80s and low humidity. Biking to work everyday to save my pennies from the gas tank has been nice. I've seen all sorts of wildlife on the way in. A flock of turkeys (or is it gaggle?) today.

I've been working on politics lately. We sponsor a city in Palestine, and it's been hard to hear of the news there and know the good people being starved and hurt. The only small heartening news is that more and more people questioning our policies in the Middle East.
