THIS IS HOW MY LIFE HAS BEEN GOING

Jan 29, 2009 13:14

Tuesday before last I woke up to excruciating pain! Then I went to Urgent Care! Then I found out I had a kidney stone! (henceforth: Stone Monster of D00m) I've been in unbearable pain since then, and next week I'm having surgery to remove the Stone Monster of D00m!

(The exclamation points make everything sound a lot less awful, right?)

Surgery? So lithotripsy isn't an option?

Perhaps I am misusing the word "surgery." Lithotripsy is what they're doing.

*researches a bit*

Actually, there are two options, and the doctor doesn't know which one he's going to do until he gets me on the table and has the stone on the x-ray. One is ureteroscopic lithotripsy (I think that counts as surgery) and the other is extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (which I think is what you're referring to). This sounds like it makes sense, right?

Yeah... I hope it's the latter.

So I see (as per Facebook) you're still in Pasadena?

Me too.

Yeah, I'm in Pasadena. My parents were here last week to take care of me, and I think they might come in again for the hopefully-not-surgery.

OMG that's terrible! D: Are they giving you pain meds until the surgery? Hope you feel better ASAP!

YES, GLORIOUS PAIN MEDS. (Oren tells me I'm basically on Opium.)

This of course means you could walk around with a cane, pop painkillers, and make snarky one-liners...

I don't have it scheduled yet, but I'll let everyone know which day later so that I can ask for prayers and stuff then. I think it's going to be at the Huntington? Not sure.
