I don''t know if it would be practical, but if you sell things on ebay, I believe you can have part of the proceeds of the sales go toward your fund raising. I had looked into it in the past, but it is a small list. (this could have changed since then.) More details would be at ebay if you decide to go that route.

Thanks! I sent them an email asking about it, because it looks like you can have money go to Susan G. Komen, but not necessarily count towards your specific fundraising goal. I wonder if there are other auction sites like that. I will do some research!
Thanks for the suggestion,
Tara

Also--this would be EXTREMELY practical for me because I am moving:) My family would surely be willing to donate some goodies to sell also. Great idea.

If youre will in to hang out in front of store, but need a way around the soliciting rules, ask the store manager if selling the pink ribbon lapel pins (or other pink ribbon items) would count as soliciting. Depending on the wording of the rules in your area, selling something passively (ie not hawking and bothering patrons, but having a visible booth with signs) can be ok.

The ribbons are super easy to make, just pink ribbon hot glued to a flatbacked pin. The materials cost is negligible, less than ten cents per piece probably, so selling them for fifty cents gives you a solid profit margin with a low price point. Some craft stores will even discount things for you if you explain what youre using it for.

Just a thought.

That's a great idea. I was actually thinking about doing some unique ribbons for the upcoming holiday and that would be a great way to get around the rule. I will be sure to mention it when talking to these store managers!! Thanks!
