112 with no AC? Not fun. I hope you have a swamp cooler at least.

Raises this year are only for the billionaires.

We do have a swamp cooler. It's keeping the house under 90 degrees, which is OK. Okay-ish, anyway. I'm definitely ready for rain.

Still wishing I could send some your way. FL in the summer means a daily thunderstorm and my yard can't take anymore.

My wife is from Florida. She laughs at people who get all freaked out by our thunderstorms because she's ridden out a Cat 5 hurricane. The rain, we wants it, Precious, we wants it.

I'm sorry. I wish Fay had taken a hard left across the country and headed for the fires....

The fire is now 85% contained. Fire teams and hotshot crews are repairing and rehabilitating fire lines; this is usually a precursor to declaring a fire "under control" as opposed to "contained". This particular fire is more than 119,000 acres, but less than it could be. Maybe they'll be able to pull a few crews off this burn before much longer.

Temperatures will be 112 today and tomorrow, and 110+ for the next week. Rain isn't in the picture unless the night time low can drop below 80. Even then with the humidity only in the mid-thirty percent range, the absolute best chance we can hope for is only 10%.

When the rain *does* finally come, there will be massive debris flows (mud slides that don't require saturated soil or extended rains), says Pollyana.

Yay.

Yay, sort of kind of, I guess.

I'd send you our 55% humidity right now if I could. It's only 88 with a heat index of 92, but it's going to be near 100 for the rest of the week with high humidity. I haven't looked up the rain chances but they're more than 10% IIRC.
