I did the music writing challenge
I'd done before. Here's what you do:
10 Music Drabbles
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterward!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
I've also included links to the songs, so if you just want to grab those, go for it.
Again, these pretty much are rough as sandpaper, but hey, I got them out.
This time I picked Sam Winchester as my character.
*****
Scar by Missy HigginsSam wished he could be what Dad wanted. Even when they were shouting at each other, when he hated his father, there was a part of him that wished he could stop being so Sam and just give Dad what he wanted. And it just couldn't happen.
Sam hated that he wasn't what Jess wanted. She wanted the image he projected, and he didn't lie, exactly, but there was so much he didn't share. And he knew that wasn't fair to her and not fair to him, really, but then they went home and went to bed and Sam knew he could never give it up.
"You're my favorite, Sammy," Azazel said, and the scariest thing about it was, Sam could feel that he was and that it just fit.

Feeling Lucky by Jimmy Eat WorldSam had never liked good luck charms. Four leaf clovers, horseshoes, any of that. Rabbit's feet.
He hated rabbit's feet.
Sam couldn't quite go to sleep yet. His shoulder twinged every time he moved. He really should have enjoyed that good luck while it lasted. Now, the only real souvenir of the whole thing was the bullet wound.

Work by Jimmy Eat WorldSam let Ruby in the car. She'd just saved his life, just jerked him from the edge he'd been teetering on, and not giving her a ride seemed...well, he didn't know what, but he was letting her in the car. She wasn't going to drive, though, no matter how his head was killing him.
"You ready to get back to work?" she asked coolly.
"Yeah," Sam answered.

Here it Goes by Jimmy Eat World (I know, third Jimmy Eat World song in a row. I do have a lot of them, though.)
Sammy loved stopping by Uncle Bobby's. It was always at least an overnight since Uncle Bobby lived in the middle of nowhere.
Sammy could just grab a book and disappear and no one noticed. Dad would be looking at whatever Uncle Bobby'd got for him and Dean would be working on a car, any car.
And it was nice, every once in a while, to just be.

Incomplete by Alanis MorissetteSam liked to imagine the future. Ever since Mr. Wyatt, Sam'd looked to what might be, what could be. He didn't have to go into the family business. So what could he do with his future?
He could stay with Dad and Dean.
He could go to college.
He could have a steady job.
He could get married and have kids and they'd only move if it was because he (or his wife because Sam sort of loved the idea of staying home with his someday-kids) was getting a promotion.
He could do so many things.
And then Sam realized what his blood really was and what it meant for his future.
And he would always be incomplete.

Beautiful by FlickerstickSam knew there were so many reasons not to get involved with Ruby. Demon demon demon.
But when Sam tried to think like that...well, demon blood demon blood demon blood was the answering refrain. What made a demon, really? How much did it take to make a demon?
When they talked about, Dean made jokes about how Sam was psychic. Or had "special" powers. Special, demonic. Potato, potahto.
Ruby offered help. Offered a way to avenge Dean. Like Sam could give that up. Especially when she wasn't asking anything other than what was already there, in him?
But sometimes, when she looked at him with a particularly proud look, he wondered if she was becoming more human as he became more demonic.

Shattered by O.A.R.Sam didn't actually enjoy fighting with Dad. They never pulled any punches. Selfish. Careless. Always worrying about the trivial.
Not that Sam was any better to Dad. He'd throw selfish at Dad, and add an "obsessed," too. Short-sighted.
And as Sam waited for the bus to take him Palo Alto, it suddenly occured to him that this couldn't have ended any other way. So this was the fight that shattered the family. But how many more could they have taken?

True Confessions by Joy Lynn WhiteRuby didn't love Sam. It wasn't quite that foolish. But Ruby didn't lie to herself, either. She'd become quite attached to him. Stupidly attached to him. More genuinely attached to him, at any rate, than he was to her.
It wasn't anything more than an inconvenience. Ruby didn't have the capacity for it to be anything more. So she would take what he gave back and that would be that.

Stay Together for the Kids by Blink 182LOOK, THIS IS A DEAN SONG. I CANNOT MAKE THIS A SAM SONG. I AM TRYING. IT WILL NOT WORK. SAM DOES NOT ANGST ABOUT FIGHTING BETWEEN PEOPLE HE LOVES LIKE THIS. ALSO, THE PEOPLE HE LOVES DON'T FIGHT LIKE THIS. THIS COULD SO BE ABOUT JOHN AND SAM FIGHTING IF I'D PICKED DEAN. BUT THIS IS A SAM MUSIC MEME AND YEAH I DID A RUBY POV UP THERE BUT IT WAS STILL ABOUT SAM. [/LOSER JUSTIFICATION]
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS STORY.

Please Forgive Me by David Gray
Sam knew Dean didn't get it. Figured Dean was annoyed by it. But there were no words for the Mystery Spot. No words for what had happened. No words for the aftermath, bad and good.
Maybe Dean could understand a bit--Sam remembered the hug when Dean walked back into the cabin after Cold Oak--but it wasn't the same. The Trickster had been toying with Sam.
And Sam couldn't forget it or not wonder when it might start up again. So Dean would have to live with an overprotective Sam for a while. Because although it had never worked, not any of the Tuesdays, it wasn't like Sam could stop trying.
