save my dwindling sanity...

I need music. I need books. No one in this god forsaken town reads and they all seem to listen to...less than real music.
Send me suggestions

I don't know that John Mayer is your thing, but the Continuum album is excellent, if you like that sort of thing.

And books--I'm sure you've read it, but The Time Traveler's Wife remains one of the top 3 favorite books of all time. Barring that, and I'm almost certain you've read this one, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal is pretty damned good, too.

Also, what ever happened to us hanging out? I still have a Christmas present FROM LAST YEAR to give you.

Call me. Seriously.

Do you not remember that, oh ETERNITY of time where I kept saying read Time Traveler's Wife and you kept saying I will I will I just don't have time with school and all...

Goober.

Of course we're going to hang out. Frickin call me, why don't ya. I work. And I don't leave unless I have a reason to because, well, my personal life is very...boring these days. And Scott works until 8 or so every night.

Recommending a book to you is so ridiculously difficult I don't want to think about it. I'll have to think about what you might possible have not read that I have.

Music: TV on the Radio's newest album "Cookie Mountain" is excellent. Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible" is also worth the time. My Pop/Punk guilty pleasure of the week is Bif Naked's "I, Bificus."

True. Plus, you've been known to give me books and then borrow them and then never return them. Jerk.

TV--check, got it. Arcade Fire is a new one. I'll go look for it. But it better be good. Or else.

HA! Of course. You WOULD see it that way...

I'm not sending you my mailing address. Because the VERY NEXT TIME you come to this state, you WILL fit me in. And you can deliver it in person.
So there.

I can't offer anything in the way of books...I haven't had time to read anything for a while.

But, I do think the band Brand New is quite awesome. I don't know if you would like them, but almost everyone I know enjoys their music. If you want to give them a shot.

As for music, check out A Fine Frenzy.

Books: I'm reading The Great Upheaval by Jay Winik. It's a history book about the time period 1789-1810 and how events were so closely connected between the American colonies, Great Britain, the French and the Russians. It's actually very interesting. Also, did you ever read Time and Again by Jack Finney. I still highly recommend it. I got you to read Time Traveler's Wife, didn't I? Seems I should get a reward just for that. LOL

Music: you are, as usual, brilliant. and, she's gorgeous.

And yes, I read and quickly added Time and Again to the best books ever list. Thank you. And yes, you are responsible for getting me to read Time Traveler's Wife so that I could spend the rest of my life forcing it on others who would then love and adore me and think I had exquisite taste. Thank you again.

I owe you---a lot. Mailing address, please.

She is pretty, isn't she? And she writes her own music. Doesn't get much better than that. :-)

Hmmm.... you've already read my recommendations. That's a good thing. Have I tried to get you to read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova yet. That was a fabulous book that freaked me out completely. Also, I think you would love two books by Sarah Vowell, Assassination Vacation and Partly Cloudy Patriot. They are excellent and extremely witty.

And no, you can't pay me for it. It's free just cause I love you. ;-)

I'm reading The Historian right now, Eye in the Sky! Get out of my head!! It's so crazy you said that. Scott (my fabulous boyfriend who doesn't read at all) picked it up for me on a whim a few days ago and I just had time to start it last night before I passed out. Work has been crazy--literally. Seems like all my guests are a bit off in the head right now. Anyway, I really like it so far. I'm in the middle, which is sagging a bit, but I'm still enjoying it. I tend to think she could have accomplished the same thing and possibly a bit more in a hundred or two less pages and I wish a few of the characters were a tad more developed. But I like the detail, the obvious research that went into it, and it keeps me interested. Definitely like the topic and I have to say I was downright terrified at several points in the first three hundred pages last night. It's a keeper.
I'll check out the others, which I'm sure I'll love since you only seem to be capable of recommending fantastic titles.
You are fantastic! Thank you!!
