Yes, the old World of Warcraft vs Final Fantasy XI argument. Wanna know a secret? They're both great games. So why play one over the other? People. They're both MMORPGs. You won't get far without the other players.

Now, here's where I start to get people angry and up in arms. I've watched slowly as members have joined and left the various shells - ( Read more... )

Both games have their good and bad -- neither is perfect. FFXI with its timesinks and WoW becomes "raid or die" at the end*. Give me the time and inclination and I could build I nice big wall of text that goes into further detail.

* Granted, Raid or Die isn't so bad thanks to TBC. Be thankful you weren't around for the 40 man raids. Now that you can run heroic mode instances and come out with actual upgrades that aren't WTFPWN'd by raid drops, it isn't so bad.

I'm digging Malorne so far, but I haven't killed/been killed yet by enemy players. I figure it's coming soon as I really want to do some of the Hillsbrad Quests. :/ I think I'll probably wind up doing more instance runs during my 20s then I might normally do. Definitely want to hit up WC, BFD, RFK, and SFK for lewts.

I think your first paragraph or so sums up my whole feeling about the game anymore. I have nothing left I want to accomplish, really. Adaman Hauberk? Who cares. Relic Scythe? Sorry, this is a game, not a job, and I'm sick of feeling like this is one. Hell, I could give a rats ass about fighting the same HNMs for the umpteenth time anymore.

I can already see my time in hell, either in adds or on stun duty for eternity.

Of course, I forgot to add that the stun duty or adds would be at Tiamat.

Christ, I hate that cunt.
