the mushroom speaks

"I am old, older than thought in your species, which is itself fifty times older than your history. Though I have been on earth for ages I am from the stars. My home is no one planet, for many worlds scattered throughout the shining disc of the galaxy have conditions which allow my spores an opportunity for life. The mushroom which you see is the ( Read more... )

Wonderful, thanks for sharing that :)
This is why I've been quite into medicinal mushrooms in general this year - cordyceps, reishi, lions mane... there are sooooo many. They reeducate our immune systems. Mushroom love.

i found this link on Angel_kitty's page, a clip of David Attenborough's observation of cordyceps in action, in the jungle:

sadly i can't embed in this reply, but well worth exploring the link

so how do you feel, after taking cordyceps?
any urges to climb trees?

aaahh it wouldn't play the whole thing for me, annoyingly. I'll try again later. It is amazing though, I've seen photos. The cordyceps I get is cultivated on purple corn though, so it's a little different. Purple corn has amazing properties in itself, so I'm the guessing the mushroom picks up on some of that. I think cordyceps is one of my favourite mushrooms, in that it has a very noticeable immediate effect as an energy booster. So yeah, if there were any good climbing trees nearby I probably would feel like climbing them, haha! Hopefully not in order to start sprouting mushrooms though ;)

isn't it the !Tung - siberian shamen
who get the urge to climb tall trees when bemushroomed...?

i know holland is going to ban psychedelic shrooms, due to folks getting all brave and lighter than air (so they thought) and going splat...

same thing happened in Ireland last year

so i'm thinking maybe there should be some in community guidance before availing oneself of the more "exotic" shrooms... like make sure you're locked in a ground floor flat or some such...

and i never did get the significance of the pseudonyms both terence and dennis used for this little book.. any ideas?

"Otiose" and "oneiric". (Odd that you should bring that up too; a couple hours ago I was just looking over a text file of Xandor Korzybski's old Mondo 2000 interview with Terence and had made particular note of XK pointing out that bit.)

aaahhhh!

now i'd never have gotten that, in a month of sundays!

i *did* think O Toss, as in "tosser" - a derogatory term used down our way, for someone who messes around, wastes time, etc

but i have to confess, i had to go look up these in a dictionary:

otiose \OH-shee-ohs; OH-tee-\, adjective:
1. Ineffective; futile.
2. Being at leisure; lazy; indolent; idle.
3. Of no use.

oneiric \oh-NY-rik\, adjective:
Of, pertaining to, or suggestive of dreams; dreamy.

so there you have it!
makes sense - typical tykish terence!

thanks for the trail of breadcrumbs, Wile E
would you have a link to the mondo article - i must have missed the reference you mention...?
