hehe same here! I love snakes and furthermore I'd like to have something very traditional so between Hebi, Koi and Tatsu my choice was obviously the first one :)
diggin the size of the tattoo & the design.kitsune_13March 8 2007, 21:29:40 UTC
I have a big Japanese water dragon on my right hip..actually from the small of my back curving around and down the leg to almost my knee.
Can't wait til Japan next month- allready have my tattoo appt booked with my artist in Nara! Woot! And then he's coming back to Vancouver, possibly in May, so I'll be going in to start working on my sleeves..and I can't wait!
oh, Tatsu is a really OLD word for Dragon. Generally they're referred to as Ryu.
WHo's the artist who did your work? They'e quite talented.

Well generally in my country between people who "knows" about traditional japanese tattoes we call the dragon "tatsu". i believe this is because Ryu is universally acknowledged as the main character of Street Fighter videogame series and it's very easy to be confused :)
This tattoo is very "american" as you can see, it's very inspired from Chris O'donnel's works because of the shape of the head, lizardlike eyes and position of teeth. The tattoer who made this is Luca Mamone from Santasangre Tattoo Roma link is quite famous because he won the second prize at the international tattoo convention for best colours.
Are you going to Japan? Wow! I really would like to have a stage there... i am an industrial designer or something like that and it seems that a lot of ppl from my school went there after their degree, that would be a dream! :)
