I punked out because of the rain--if it had been raining just a little bit less, or not raining but only threatening and wet, I was totally prepared to ride, trusting to my sweet fenders to keep the muck off, and taking advantage of the free MATA rides for cyclists all day today. You totally did not punk out. Nobody would set Bike to Work day on a rainy day if they could re-set major activity holidays based on weather! Also, safety first: Biking to work in the rain is considerably more dangerous than biking to work on dry streets, for reasons from 'bicycle tire traction' to 'vehicles-that-are-bigger-than-your-squishy-crunchy-bike tire traction.' Your partner is having a rough spring and does not need you to have a bicycle accident. You are not a failure, you're a sensible and considerate person. ;) I am only halfway joking here.
And yeah, bigger things.
Besides, if it makes you feel any better, you have biked to work infinitely more times than I have biked to work.
