-- my father's step-mother, who never liked him, called him fat and PUNCHED him in the surgical site. They had to get back to VA fast, Dad will be back in surgery by next week.

Let me get this straight, you dad's stepmom punched your dad??? And because of it, he needs extremely fast surgery??? I woulda taken a machete to her!!!! How horrible!!!!
Sorry to hear about your mimaw, =-( I hope her hospice nurses are awesme, careing, comforting people. After my mom's excellent care from Hospice, I am a big fan.
