Well, hey, I read it! First, I used to be so bored during the sermon; I never heard a whole sermon all the way through. Sometimes I'd try but give up in a few minutes. Most of the time I didn't try. I gave myself permission to day dream, fantasize, etc. But if you haven't slept well...you might just go to sleep. Oh, agony, trying to stay awake when you're bored/sleepy. The solution for me was to grow up, not go to church at all for years and much later find a different kind of service that truly interested me. we all have to escape our situation or shape it. To shape it we find our Elements of Interest, (Please see more about that on my blog ThePowerOfBoredom.com) and we figure out how to put those Elements into an otherwise boring situation. For me, being imaginative, I just fantasized/planned something that was a goal for me.
