simple economics, if your customers are willing to cough up the dough, then take them for as much as you can... supply and demand dictates taht you only back off the pricing when your customer base stops growing.

I understand why they do it, but it is still douchebaggery. It's in the same sense as this: I understand why oil & coal companies try to quash research on alternative fuels, but I still think they're douchebags. (obviously more extreme, but gets the point across)

well, in the case of games, i can completely understand it... to me that is pure economic sense with nothing to confuse it as games are a luxury. oil is a whole different can of beans, with global environmental, economic and political impacts to their product and active market and governmental manipulations to insure a monopoly like resistence to competition. technically, big oil is even evil in the world of pure capitalist theory.
