Thinking, possibly.

So someone on tumblr (a friend) posted this link on tumblr. I read it and realized that I really do agree with it so, I am sharing it here.

I really agree with a lot of this. I feel like I'm personally in a place where I'm not busy but I feel the side effects of the busy society -- I feel incredibly guilty that much of my free time at night or on the weekends I haven't spent being "productive". It's a habit that's hard to kick, because there's something to be said about the productivity of taking time to breathe and relax, but we do live in a society where life and the results of living life feel more valuable when they're concrete. :/

I think it's okay when you are alone? In general, at least.

Sadly, we meet people regularly and people just constantly shove their busy lives in our faces and make us feel like we are not accomplishing enough in our lives. My main problem, for now though, is that I legit have no time for myself. Today's my first full day home in two months. I work 52 hours a week spanned over 6 days, averaging 8 hour days on weekdays, and 10 on weekends. I would probably have more time to myself if I stop going out with dinners with friends but it keeps nagging at me - the whole thing about how if I don't meet my friends on my one free day today, I won't be able to meet them till at least next week.

My friend thinks that my current job might actually be bad for me, I don't know. But the article does make me think, make me miss the chunks of free time I used to have.

Coincidentally, I just recently read a study in which they found that people who live in New York, or even visit New York for a couple weeks, end up with a significantly higher chance of suffering heart problems. It's scary how even a brief exposure to such a hectic environment can pose a threat to one's livelihood. :S
