Day 3: An Item of Interest

Location: Grand Chokmah, near Guy's manor
Time: Day 3, mid-morning

Jade had never been what others called a social creature. It simply... wasn't in his nature. As much as he could pretend otherwise, he much preferred his own company when given an actual choice in the matter, and especially when he was thinking.
As such, he was quite content to spend his second day in this strange parallel reality entirely secluded in his new quarters -- a single bedroom with an adjoining bath, and little else to recommend it. Nothing like what he was accustomed to, of course, but yesterday he had hardly noticed, far more interested in the stack of plain white paper and the ink they supplied him with. The room could have been gilded with jewels or filled with water, and his response to it would have been the same: an absentminded, "Yes, thank you, this will be fine," and a closed door.
He had also gone without food or drink. That was the level of his absorption.
Today, emerging from his theorems, Jade was slightly more aware of his surroundings, but though his upper lip had curled a little instinctively, he was still not especially displeased. He'd spent time in more cramped quarters during his university days.
But it meant that a breath of fresh air was... considerably more appealing. Having opened his one large window to let the room air out a little, Jade left his new quarters behind, and headed out on to the streets.
