I have read The Lord of the Rings a ridiculous number of times, but to be fair I did start when I was about seven. I'm not even all that keen on it, it's comfort reading by now.

Next to that, the book I have read the most is probably Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog, which is adorably silly. Though I've not read that in a couple of years, sometimes you need a break.

Don't get me wrong, I read no end of more serious stuff too, it's just that there are some books you keep on rereading. Of the serious ones, Patrick White's The Vivisector is fairly high on the list and may even beat the Willis, though again having a head start (mid to late teens, I think) helps there as well.
