I'll be venturing into my first DSLR very soon. And this is plaguing me.
I cannot fucking decide between the Nikon D90 and Canon Rebel t2I.
Any of my photog friends have either? What's your preference? Why?
HELP ME PLEASE. This is a serious problem for me. And yes, money is part of it, with the Canon being so much cheaper.

(Interestingly, Canon cameras are only called 'Rebel' in the USA - perhaps Canon think that evoking that wild 'n' crazy Bonnie & Clyde spirit they'll sell more, or something...)
Anyway. It's good, it works, can't fault it. But then, I think you could say the same about any DSLR. Certainly anything made by the top names will be good. There's too much competition in the market for crap cameras to survive. I'd say just get the cheapest one!

I wanted a D90 for a long time but its so damn expensive that I'm really starting to rethink my thoughts. And I've used a Canon for the past three years(a point and shoot, the Powershot S5IS if you're curious) and I really do love it.
I am leaning more and more towards Canon. The $300 less is reallyyyyy attractive to me.
Thank you for the advice! Can I see some shots you've taken with your 500D?

The 500D is an obsolete model now - it was replaced by the 550D, which just has slight differences in the way it records video. They seem to bring out new cameras all the time, but mostly the new ones are much the same as the old ones with very slight upgrades. This means it's often possible to save money by buying the camera that's just been replaced. I got my 500D at a hefty discount just because it was no longer the current model.
Anyway...this is what it can do.
This is the camera (and me!). Quite a dark room, no flash...

Even in the "film" folder on my flickr page were shot with my Canon (film camera). The inside hardwear is far superior than a Nikon (for the image quality).
