Late night thoughts and reliving a dream

I was playing a game just now. It's called Rez. It completely blew my mind, the last level. It felt as if I were really a part of the game, experiencing a trance I imagine even the hardest drug couldn't reconstruct (I certainly don't have any intention of finding out either). I loved every second of it. Though I confess it isn't the same ( Read more... )

MY LIFE = DAVID philwood October 18 2004, 06:15:16 UTC
Has anyone ever told you that you overanalyse shit?? b/c u do, i was reading your 'livejournal'aka'warandpeace' and my friend comes up behind me (i'm in the library) and asks what my essay's on, oh no, this is for fun i reply and now i=loser...thanks thanks a lot.
don't worry i'm still obsessed w/ u but just maybe if you write less in ur livejournal more often rather than a HUGE essay every once in a while u know?? b/c i want to know what's going on in ur life but ur just so deep and like smart and over thinker, i write about my mother being annoying and u write about the pros and cons of a gender biased video game based world. JESUS man if i were next to u yes i'd have sex with u but no seriously i just want to be with u!
wow ok

I (Rachel's annoying friend who stole her computer :-D) agree and think it's brilliant. But then, being a "girl-gamer" I've long since made the same observations. The Yuna thing killed me, especially. On the plus side, in the latest Zelda:Windwaker, Zelda is more than the pretty little thing that waits for Link to save her... for the most part.

I suppose it's just an insult to male intelligence. "Look, pretty! Buy!" Any road, it's annoying, but there and easy to cope with. Yeah for Marketing/Capitalism/Propaganda. =)

Hooray! Some one agrees! And to be fair, Zelda, a.k.a. Tetra in the latest installment wasn't exactly the pinacle of usefulness either. She still did more than in previous games true. Wait a minute...what the hell am I talking about? Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Sheik ruled! Not to mention how much ass-whooping one can accomplish with Zelda/Sheik in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Honestly, I think that of the female characters in video games, Zelda is one of the better "role models", especially as each iteration of Zelda increases. (Though I still think Tetra is a bit of a step down from Zelda in Ocarina of Time...maybe it was just the overplayed comedy that did it...I dunno). But hey, what can one say? The media is hyped with sex, and unfortunately it shows in the video game world. On the other hand, I think there's far more balance in the video game realm than the real world. Plus, bare in mind that the concept of "sex sells" also is aimed to work both ways.

I hold that Sheik is a separate entity entirely. :-D Sheik good, Zelda bad... Okay, so maybe it's just plain denial. I was one of those weird kids that had the hots for Sheik, suprising a large amount of the chicks I knew when OoT came out. Any road, I thought Tetra-Zelda was more entertaining/a better role model than Damsel-in-Distress-Zelda from the other games. Granted, though, Zelda-Sheik in SSBM is the epitome of awesome, I rarely play with the other characters.

I don't know. Personally, when I grow up, I want to be like Samus. :-)

Great point! Samus rules. Just outright rules. There's really no getting around it.
