Trust me, I was sorry to see it end as well. It was the biggest thing on my mind, now it's done, I have no inspiration. My muse? She is broken. I think I beat her too hard for this.
Anyway, *grin* thrilled you liked it! And thanks so much for the feedback!
HEee! My initial plan for the end of the story had been for him to do exactly that: Turn Willow and the two of them destroy Spike and Angelus and leave Sunnydale. I wrote it so many times, but it just didn't work, didn't ring true to what he'd been. So I gave up, closed my eyes and let my fingers do the story telling, and this last chapter is what came of that.
I'm so glad you liked it, and that it was compelling enough for you to read the whole thing in one sitting. That's so cool! And thanks for the awesome fb.
Hey there. I came across this fic from the link you gave on the Bloodclaim community and I must say I don't know why I haven't heard of this fic before! It's fantastic. I'll admit that I first read Let Mercy Lead, but dominant Xander just feels odd to me--sorry!--but then I saw this and...yeah. *happy sigh* Xangelus is my second favorite pairing in this fandom and you all the right buttons to push. Well, except for the torture scene which was unsettling, but that's partly to blame on my vivid imagination. ;)
Just getting to reply to this, sorry for taking so long! Yikes, busy end of the year stuff.
So glad you liked this, honestly. And yeah, the torture scene was really hard to write. I tried to put the warnings up and let people know how nasty that bit was going to get, but it needed to be in there for the rest of the stuff to happen.
The hardest part for me, though, was writing Xander killing Willow. That was the part that took FOREVER. I just couldn't work my way around it (initially, she was supposed to be vamped, then she and Xander would kill everyone else off, but that didn't work).
But I thank you for reading it, and for letting me know that you liked it and all that jazz. :D
Want criticism? So you said...Doubt it, but, hey... I read this to the end just out of curiosity. I like slash especially in the Btvs universe. But what I read had most to do with bad SAS novels than with interesting, well-written stories - Sadism, absence of psychology -as if raped people loved to be -, bad characterization of Xander but one can excuse you, it was needed to make the story work. Xander was never so submissive. He hated vamps and would have become a pretty sadistic one, IMO. *See The Wish* Complete lack of humor for Mr Harris is a pretty big sin. It's his trademark. Not badly written -That's why I bother to annoy you with my mean words- but, geez, the story of Saint Xander the good, sub vampire loved by the oh so sick and annoying scourge of Europe? What a waste of talent.
I saw this at the Fang Fetish awards and just read it start to finish. Normally, I lurk unless I feel particularly moved, and your fic made me come out of the shadows.
First of all the characterizations are brilliant. Very rarely does someone depict Angelus satisfactorily, but I really believed him here. I also loved the addition of Spike

Give Xan 20 years or so. He's gonna be right there with him!
I am sorry to see this story end. But that leaves avenues open for other great stuff to come in.
Brill! This series is just Brill!
