It's about a young doctor who works a ridiculous ammount of hours in a NHS hospital and tries to survive in that seriously flawed system.
A coworker of mine this week said "Oh, they gladly take all those hours, they earn huge money." On my remark that "they" keep doing those marathons (and keep dying on them of exhaustion) because there's not enough people to rotate shifts, she replied she's sure there would be many eager ones to take it. How that "would" somehow in reality still fails to turn into "is" was a mystery she didn't seem to notice. And all this in front of a very fresh newbie, who joined us after deciding her last job sucked. Last job being a medical receptionist... And she still decided that coming to us "dziady kultury" is a more promising career option. Yeah, must be money. In unrelated news, my coworker is a Person of Christian ValuesTM, and for 95% of time solid and pleasant to work with, except those 5% once in a while testing my urge to shake her real hard...

"Oh, they gladly take all those hours, they earn huge money."
I've heard the same about teachers. Well, perhaps without the "huge" part. How come we're on the verge of the system collapsing and no one is doing anything? Oh, right, because we're in the same place with doctors and nurses for years and even when human life is at stake it doesn't alarm anyone. "It's going to hurt" made me think od "Chernobyl" when it comes to showing a broken system.

Because when you're corpo-rats who spend most of their worktime on assuring their management and each other that their job is actually productive in something more than PP presentations, stacks of printed paper and egos while wearing suits, means you're high-tier proffesionals and you're entitled to suit-wearing money, because your time is valuable. Which is proven by you making money, of course. And if it makes money, it's respectable, and thus deserving money ( ... )

I may have fallen a bit in love with Anthony as well this season! Such a tragic backstory. Poor guy.

Have you read the books? Apparently to surprise its viewers, they change up quite a bit from the books. That whole thing that the wedding almost happened apparently is not in there.

I'm also not sure I understand why it suddenly was no problem that he married Kate. If it was so easy, they could have done it a whole lot sooner?

I also truly love mother Bridgerton. She seems like a great person. And I must admit that I did love the Featherington cousin from America ;)

I haven't read the books - yet? - and I don't know if I want to. They could make the waiting for season 3 easier, but I heard they are, well, exactly how such books are, and I love the show's modern approach, how they make the couples equals and think about consent and everything. And I don't know if I want any spoilers. But it's already hard to avoid them, being in the fandom, so I might learn some things even without reading. Perhaps I'll try the first two books and see how I feel about them. Have you read them? Are you a fan? I suppose not, as we never talked about it :D ( ... )

No, I haven't read the books. And I don't think I want to for the same reason as you - if they are too much of an ordinary romance novel, then I am really not interested in it. It's not the kind of book I usually read ( ... )

And at first I had trouble keeping the three Bridgerton boys apart, they really do look alike!
I had no problem with Colin, but I actually thought Anthony and Benedict were the same person for two or three episodes :D I could only tell them apart because of the people they had scenes with. Now of course I can't believe there was a time I couldn't tell them apart. But apparently in the books they are described as very look alike.

I also do especially love how the girls in their dresses always not sit uptight and properly but lounge back on the sofa in a comfortable pose.Especially Eloise. I've read the actress who's playing her is 32, and I can truly believe Eloise is a teenager. Her acting is fantastic ( ... )
