David Tennant's sexiest characters

In fandoms, we often talk about silly stuff but somethimes things get serious and before you know, you are left with a question that keeps bugging you for days. Like: which David Tennant's character is the sexiest? *grins*





The question's inpiration was zebediahkilgrave's tumblr, which I came upon quite randomly (but highly recommend it as a source of brilliant gifs) and learned that there has been a poll among the blog's followers, and all the places but the first have already been revealed. It took me some time to guess who's the winner, as the Doctor, Alec Hardy, Peter Vincent, Kilgrave, Hamlet and Benedick were in further places (who could be sexier than the Doctor?) but I finally came up with the answer, and it was confirmed few hours later: Peter Carlisle. The unexpected victory - the poll's creator didn't see that coming either - made me think of my list of sexiest Tennant's characters. I was pretty certain it was going to be easy but I couldn't make up my mind about any place but the first (who could be sexier than the Doctor?), and then I've seen a couple of minutes of Blackpool again and I wasn't even sure about that one. Different characters were sexy in different ways, and from different reasons. So, I finally came up not with a list but with a set, where the order doesn't count, and I'm glad I wasn't there on zebediahkilgrave's tumblr when the poll was open because I'd be useless unless there was a multiple choice. So, if I came upon a poll with that particular question, and I could vote for more than just one character, these are the characters I'd vote for.

David Tennant's sexiest characters (a set, not a list)

• As I already said, Peter Carlisle seems an unexpected choice until you rewatch some episodes. There is something about his confidence when he talks to people, there is the fact that he eats almost every time he's on screen but what really makes him irresistible is the way he looks at Natalie, the scene when they sing "Should I stay" being the finiest example. I don't think I've seen more love in someone's eyes. (Romantic-sexy)
• Alec Hardy might not be able to run more than few meters for most of the series but his sharp mind, the strength of purpose, his sincerity and honesty make him super-attractive. His accent and the way the camera brings out the colour of his eyes do help, too. (Smart-sexy)
• The Doctor's appeal is a combination of many elements and it can't really be separated from the character itself: intelligence, boyish charm, enthusiasm, geekness, the fact that whatever he does, he does it completely, with his entire self; the way he looks and speaks, it's all there. (Charming-sexy)
• Never underestimate the man that can make you laugh. Benedick is absolutely adorable in that Superman t-shirt and sandals; he can laugh at himself and he's go genuine in whatever he does. (Adorable-sexy)
• Kilgrave's attractiveness is doubtlessly intentional but I still feel guilty when I think how good he looks for most of the time. The scene with the blender in episode 12 is probably the biggest "it's so wrong that I think he's hot but I can't help it" moment. (Charismatic evil-sexy)

If it was a list, Peter Vincent and Doug McLeod would make the top ten but it seems they're not compelling enough as characters to be at the top. The conclusion seems to be: to me, sexiness comes from the actor's performance and the character's personality rather than from the appearence itself; God bless costume departments for leather pants, eyeliner, tight clothes and the rest of it; bless the writers for hot scenes but those things only reinforce the appeal the character already has.
