[Who would bring a kid here?]

It comes from the milkman but why they would poison it is another story. They...just like to do things like that.

I know it comes from the milkman- but where does he get it from?

Who knows, that's how Mayfield works!

He must get it from somewhere! Do you think anyone in the grocery store could tell me?

[And Adachi comes home from work to see.... this. Huh.]

Er, what exactly are you trying to do?

[Conan is more or less absorbed in his experiment with the milk- so his response sounds a little less like a child than usual]

I'm trying to determine what kind of poison is in the milk- if it's slow acting than arsenic is possible. I don't detect any kind of almond scent- so I don't think it's cyanide.

[...Wow. All those big words. It's like interacting with Naoto all over again. He'll just busy himself by getting a cup of coffee while quietly watching over this experiment.]

That's nice and all, but... what good is it going to do? I don't think anyone is seriously going to drink the milk. I mean, what's the Milkman going to do? Force it down our throats?

I want to know what kind of poison it is- where it comes from- who put it in the milk- why they put it in the milk- and most importantly- can the poison be nullified?

I wish to know this as well... Mmm... Anything is possible in Mayfield I guess. Haah, I wish it was drinkable.

Well, there's still an indeterminable amount of suspects, unfortunately. But, I can tell you the cows are most likely not to blame.

Poison doesn't transfer from Cow to milk- and if it's a slow moving poison it's probably arsenic. And, unfortunately, it's possible for cows to get into something with arsenic in it.

Ahh, well that's a relief, that would be odd if it were case. ...It would make me wonder what Mayfield has been giving us to eat.

...Is arsenic lethal may I ask?

It can be. It just depends on how much a person ingests versus their weight.

But, it will kill you over time if you should continue to ingest it.

I don't know, it could have cyanide in it?

To the last two, who knows?

[Airy playboy voice. He knows that cyanide smells like almonds but he doesn't want Conan to know that. He also knows that thallium would be a far better and less easily discovered poison, but he's not going to say that, either.]

I don't think so, Cyanide has a smell of bitter almonds to it- and I can't detect anything like that. Besides, cyanide is almost instantaneous, if It's a slow acting poison, I'd say arsenic.

Who says "they" don't want us to die instantaneously? Whoever "they" are, they clearly take delight in our suffering.

[He'd add that arsenic tastes sweet and therefore would be easily detected as well, since milk isn't supposed to taste sweet, but obviously Conan isn't the only one with some secrets to keep.]

It's possible- but there's no almond scent- so I don't think it's cyanide.

[How long was Kaito all but standing over your shoulder before you noticed him, Conan? Who knows for sure.

He's just going to continue to stand there with his hands in his pockets until you finally do notice, watching you work. Well at least that explains where all the milk went.]

[Conan is not so great at noticing thing while he's engrossed in working on something he's deemed important. Once he does, however, he nearly drops the glass of milk on to the stove but just manages to save it.]

What are you doing?

[Kaito raises an eyebrow at Conan, unperturbed.]

I think that's a question that I should be asking you, don't you think?

I'm trying to determine what kind of poison it is, that's all. Well- that and maybe where it comes from.
