According to John, The Beatles are "Ok". Blasphemy, I know.
While all of the songs on the list that I've heard are good (it's just Styx though, not The Styx), they seem more than a bit biased towards the recently downloaded. A great song will stand the test of time, and you've hardly given most of these the chance to do so.
I missed the part about it not being in any particular order earlier. I take it this means that... a)It's casually written, with songs added as they are thought up b)It isn't meant to be a definitive list, and c)The Beatles song(s) will pop up later.
It's also not as biased toward new stuff as I first thought, but I still stand by my statement that at least some, if not many, of these haven't been favorites for long enough to warrant a place on the list. I'm not saying that they aren't worthy, just that I personally would have either waited to make the list until the songs on it had been favorites for longer or clarified that everything was tentative. But then, I also wouldn't have posted any of the list until I was finished with it. Oh well.
I'd be willing to bet that if you were to conduct a survey of all the bands and musicians that you love, over 90% of them would agree that (at least in the latter half of the 60s) the Beatles were an amazing band, and one of the best ever. If that doesn't mean anything to you, I don't know what will.
oh wow i totally love the beatles now because the bands and musicians i love from the latter half of the sixties like the beatles too!!! Oh wait, i dont care what the bands i like listen to. i still hate the beatles. nice try. not.
I was referring to The Beatles' work from the latter half of the 60s, not the bands you like from that era. The band could be from any era (60s and sooner anyway) and I'd still bet that they like The Beatles or at least respect them as great innovators.
Anyway, it's not a big deal if you hate The Beatles. It just shows that you don't know much about what makes good music. I'm not a huge beatnik, and I don't have every album that they put out, but I know great music when I hear it.
Note: I made a copy & paste error when I first posted this, with that last line popping up in the first paragraph. It's fixed now, obviously.
um, thats pretty awesome that you have renegade, white rabbit, and keep on rockin the free world. wasn't the joker by steve miller band? or is that just a completely different song?
