[Private to Inmates]

Now, I know many of us are still reeling from this most recent flood, but I have some unattended business to look into: namely, the curious acquisition of powers which I experienced a little over a week ago. I had been told, at the time, that others had encountered similar... anomolies. The instances were isolated and therefore ( Read more... )

[Crane shrugs, doing the IDK thing with his hands. You can still see the zero-ness behind him.] You may not believe me, but I wasn't involved in that one. If I had the means to do that, I wouldn't be simply fear gassing the dining hall.

[She's got her chin resting her palm, her elbow on the desk] Indeed. The gas was effective, there's no doubt of that, but it has certain limitations. Power on this scale, of this variety...

[She looks a bit misty-eyed for a moment, before snapping out of it] Well, you could accomplish just about anything you wanted.

[Crane was having a bit of a moment there as well.]

The problem is, [He switches to a more attentive tone.] that you could accomplish whatever you want at the expense of others. Which from our current position, is not particularly encouraging.

Are you referring to the fact that the powers seem to have been borrowed from other inmates? Because that fact does serve as an... impediment.

What the hell are you talking about?

I'll make this simple for you, as it seems you may require such:

In the last few weeks, inmates have acquired - for a short period of time - powers that were not their own.

I suspect that someone other than the Admiral may be involved.

I'd like to know was much about the matter as I can.

Understand now?

You asked, and I'll do as I please. Now, do you know anything or not?

All I know is that I had my powers back for a couple days, and later on somebody else had them too. Don't know - or, to be honest, care - how that happened.

Really? You don't find the whole business a bit odd? Worth looking into?

At least personally, I'm intrigued by the possibility of being more-than-human. Although I suppose if you already are, this whole thing may be much less relevant.

Sorry, I guess if you've been more-than-human for a while the novelty wears off.

You weren't born with... your talents?

It is doubtful the Admiral is behind it, no direct contact with the 'owner' of the powers are necessary and it only lasts for a day. Which might suggest some manner of testing is occurring without the victims' consents.

It's possible, of course, but I haven't heard tell of that sort of technology around. You'd think at least some information would've leaked out by now.

Perhaps it has been taken for granted.

I don't think I'd trust anybody claiming responsibility at this point.

Of course not, but I thought I'd see if I couldn't stir some information up - true or otherwise. It's curious that no one seems to have any real idea what caused this.

Most probably don't care. Complacency runs rampant on the Barge.

I don't know that it's complacency so much as the fact that we get beaten down on such a regular basis - what with floods, ports, and all the miscellaneous rubbish the Barge throws at us. You learn when to pitch a fit, so to speak, and when to just leave well enough alone.
