Response to Writing Workshop 6: Conversations with the Author

Amy groaned. "Michael...I have alot of work to do writing these papers. So I'm only going to ask once. What's wrong?"

Michael looked up from what he was doing with a completely innocent look on his face. "What? Nothing's wrong..."

Rolling her eyes, Amy sighed and put Frankenstein down so she could walk over and pluck the suggestively posed action figures from his hands. "You only play with my toys when your upset and I really don't have time to stop Hunter and Han from pounding on you again, so what is it?" She turns away from him for a moment to put the Han Solo and Crimson Ranger action figures back on her shelves so hopefully her other two pups won't notice they were moved.

"I told you...nothing." Michael said, not meeting her eyes when she turned back to him, even going so far as to picking up one of her My Little Ponies to distract himself, twirling it's tail in his fingers. "Hey when are you going to model some Rage and Zephyr ponies?"

That just earned him an unamused stare. "Michael...Just admit it. It's Brian and Guy. Spill. Now."

Throwing up his hands, he lounged back on her bed, still fiddling with the pony. "Fine! I'm pissed as hell at Brian for sleeping with Guy, even though I'm not supposed to know and I don't understand why Guy had to leave so quickly that morning. It's obvious he cares about me...why can't he show it?"

Amy sighed and sat back in her computer chair. "Michael, you know why. You watched Guy's canon with me and you've heard Kim talk about when he comes from. It was a different time...and Brian well, are you really that surprised? And if your so mad at Brian over it...why are you not also mad at Guy? He could have said no too ya know..."

Michael sat there for a few long moment, just staring at the glittery orange pony in his hands. Amy waited, before smirking at him. "What's Sparkleworks telling you?"

He turned his head to glare at her, playfully throwing the pony at her. Amy caught it and Michael took the moment that it took her to stand and put the pony back on the shelf to compose something of an answer. "Brian...he's my best friend. He knows this would hurt me. I guess...I just thought he'd...for once...I mean, I know I should be mad at Guy, but...I guess I just feel more betrayed by Brian."

The girl got up and moved to sit next to Michael on the bed, putting a hand on his knee. "I wish I could have spared you that. You know I would have if I could." Wordlessly, she drew her pup into a hug, since she knew he wasn't getting alot of comforting on the island. "Things...well...they won't seem like they are getting better, but they will. I can promise you that."

Michael snorted but didn't move. "Right...instead of an old coat, I get a husband and a kid."

Amy chuckled. "You'll thank me in the end. I promise."

Pulling back from the hug, Michael gave her a skeptical look. She just grinned knowingly. To that, he sighed. "We'll see."

"Good enough. Can I go back to my homework now? I have classes to pass."

"Yeah yeah." Michel stood up. "I'm gonna go hang out with Xander...your not going to tell Hunter and Han..." He sighed with relief when Amy shook her head as she moved back to her chair. "Okay whew."
