If there was one thing that Leonard could count on being a steady, unchanging part of his life, it was that his mother was insane when it came to the holidays and him. When he and Gabriella had arrived in Georgia at about 10 o'clock at night, his mother took it upon herself to meet them, smother him with enough hugs to last him several years and, ( Read more... )

Gabriella had been enjoying herself, there was no denying that. She'd been hugged, and treated like a daughter almost from the very start, though not that she minded that. Sometimes being treated as such could be awkward, but the way Mrs.McCoy did it just made her feel welcomed and accepted ( ... )

He directed a small smile back to Gabriella before getting up and pulling out a chair for her. "Only problem with that is that butter drips out if you put too much on it. Though, I am a sucker for warm biscuits."

Leonard noticed his mother giving him a look when he pulled out the chair and he had to bite his lip to prevent himself saying anything in retaliation, realizing that would raise more questions then anything else.

When Gabriella had sat down he moved sit down next to her and waited for his parents to start eating before he did.

When Mrs. McCoy sat down she beamed at the two of them. "So, Gabriella, how did you end up meeting Leonard? Because he told me you're in Engineering program and I wasn't sure if you two would ever run into him."

Leonard just shut his eyes before he moved to grab the biscuits.

"But then you get another biscuit to sop it up off your plate with. And don't say anything about needing to eat healthy now, it's the holidays," Gabriella quickly added the last bit as she flashed him a smirk, and then sat down with a murmured thank you. She was used to his gentlemanly ways, after all,.

"Oh! It's a funny story, really," she said brightly as she too helped herself to a biscuit, carefully adding a blob of butter before getting distracted by the conversation again. "Long story short though, I managed to fall off a rig during class, and I hit my head, cracking it open and passing out, and he was tending to me when I came around. I had to stay in over night, and he stayed with me, even though he wasn't told to."

She turned her head to him and beamed affectionately at him. "Kept me awake since I wasn't supposed to go back to sleep, and since we've just been friends."

"You so little faith in me. I wasn't going to say a thing about that, I was going to say I don't want butter all over my shirt. Besides, I'm going to watch what you eat after the holidays, remember?" Leonard laughed before giving her his own smirk.

"That was one of the longest night of my life. Trying to keep her from falling asleep that night was a one of the hardest things I've ever done. By the end of it, I was falling asleep myself and one of the other med students came and kicked me out, even though I tried to stay." His smile just shined at her after he was finished explaining.

"So, you had keep this pretty girl up and because you did you've been friends with her? That's my boy, always being such a gentleman." His mother laughed before giving her husband a nudge, after noticing a smirk on his face.
