It took me a long time to be able to part with inanimate stuff I had laying around. But then I got to the point where I was asking, "Do I really need this...do I actually use it?" Try to ask yourself why you're attached to it in the first place. I mean, I still have a lot of stuff I had as a kid, like stuffed animals and books, but it's because I still really love them. When it comes to less used toys, or things I keep around because I feel I ought to (like, your grandmother gave you a book, and even though you have never had any interest in reading it, you feel obligated to keep it), I just get over it and donate it to the Salvation Army.

I've gotten better too... i can pretty much get rid of clothes now without feeling too bad. i do usually try to ridicule myself out of my insanity.
