Here is a large, antique Turkish spindle that my good friend and fiber buddy Laverne of gifted me with a few weeks ago. It's a lovely piece with wonderful detail. It is surprisingly long which makes me wonder whether it's for plying or if it was meant to be thigh rolled. There is a delightful diversity of spindles and their usage in that area ( Read more... )

Persona research....we've made big improvements over the past couple of years with adding linen and wool and taking out cotton in tunics but now my eyes are starting to turn towards other details.  Little things like metal work buttons make all the difference in making garb stand out as this or that rather then generic nomad or generic Celt, etc.  ( Read more... )
