Fanfic writers come up with the strangest things

This was stolen from zarla's latest badfic-quotes post, source unknown, but I thought it was awesome and had to share. The characters are from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; it's pretty much unrelated to the snippet except to point out that Garak's non-human, but you can pick that up from context anyway ( Read more... )

That is pretty damn epic. My inner-thirteen-year-old is so conflicted as to whether she wants to applaud or protest.

Your inner thirteen-year-old is a wise woman, I'm not sure either. But I'm laughing my way through my indecision :D

I read it expecting it to be terrible... but I can't help but be amused. I watched a bunch of DS9 a few months ago, which makes it funnier.

"badfic-quotes" is a /slight/ misnomer, in that most of the bits are from really terrible fic but some of them are just hilarious crack, not actually BAD

well, the funny thing is that quote is very similar to a conversation they have in the series. Bashir is talking to Garak about the Cardassian stories he read and how bleak they are, and Garak scoffs somewhat at Shakespeare's idea of "tragedy".

btw, I was a Garak fangirl about 10 years ago. xD

It was quite possibly a reference to that conversation, then! I've seen a little of DS9, but it was back when it was airing new episodes on TV, and I didn't watch regularly - I probably missed that particular ep XD
