I couldn't use it to run my statistical program. So I needed a new main board fast.

Explanation to non-LonPat-people: the only thing Pat can do right now for his thesis is some serious datamining. So without the program, he couldn't study!

And yay at pwetty shiny leds. ^_^
Are you gonna hang a discoball above th pc now? Ow, and a mini-lava-lamp!

Having USB2.0 is certainly nice, but I don't know whether this new mobo will accomodate your next processor... There's a lot of movement on the CPU-socket-front.

I have that PSU as well! I didn't know it had those LEDs in it -- I selected it because it was of a good brand and had the right power output. The silence was a pleasant surprise, but I could have done without the LEDs. Oh well, now the living room is bathed in a soft red-green-blue glow at night...

Well it can't handle Athlon 64 processors. But my old board can't handle anything higher than an XP 2000+ on 266 MHz. I can upgrade my new board to an XP 3200+ on 400 MHz, which is a vast advancement to my current 1700+. I'll just have to wait for the XP's to really start falling in price :)

There you go. My prediction is that that board won't 'last' you more than a year -- if you upgrade after that, you'll want one of those spiffy Athlon64s.

They've been dropping in price for a few months now, ever since the launch of the Athlon64s.
