I don't know if he was, as I elected not to go in that day.  But the next day I do arrive and find they have covered one of the trees outside with autumn leaves. They ( Read more... )

Wiring leaves to trees!?! I hope they didn't have to take the "inappopriatley" green leaves off to accomplish this bit of movie magic?

Wouldn't that have been horrible--but no, it was a previously bare winter tree--now all happy with it's red dressing. They also added some nice signage and big barrels of flowers to set on the outside slabs where you've seen me set up in the summer.

We will see if the historical commission approves of the new signs as they were donated at end of filming. But nothing is changed at the Market without going through a huge approval process to make sure it is fitting with the historical feel. I should take pictures while they are still around.

Yes, it sort of is. I'm kind of amazed by how much money is in the business. But I guess we can say they are providing jobs for people specializing in wiring leaves!!

They wired the leaves onto the trees in LotR, but those were trees constructed in the their shops. They used real leaves though, according to the extras. It must be a job getting all the wires back off living trees. They can't leave them up there or they'll stunt or kill the tree as it grows. (I should think.)

Whoa, that's backwards, constructed trees with living leaves. Must be a different hemisphere thing ;)

But, yes--the leaves are all down now. No more threat to normal growth.
