WOW!! The new show, Studio 60, that just premiered last night is brilliant!! It's very funny, but it also has weight.  Lots of commentary on the dumbing down of media and the way networks serve corporate interests.  Very smartly made points, while being very entertaining at the same time.   Lots of charisma in the cast--great writing.  Can't wait ( Read more... )

Yes, Sorkin (right? right!) knows how to write dialog doesn't he. You (me that is) listen for every word, not wanting to miss anything. I think I too will catch it next week.

Wait--I think I read that wrong at first. You DID watch the premiere, right? I first read it as if you knew from West Wing that the show would be well-written. Anyhow, never mind me... so next week I'll know where you are on MOnday night!!! Or what you are doing, anyway..same as me :)

I liked the show too. I love Matthew Perry, and I thought the woman president, Jordan, was very appealing. I thought she - Amanda Peet - was in the movie Junebug which I liked very much. I was wrong. That actress was Embeth Davidtz. Very similar acting.

I have to say the only thing that was strange to me was adding an Evangelical Christian character. After hearing about the recent infiltration of Evangelical Christians in Hollywood in a background story regarding the controversial ABC movie about 9/11, I couldn't quite warm to the Harriet Hayes character.
