OK.. Here's my first attempt at posting pictures. I'm starting with (as per mr_nice_gaius's request) with the blackwork shirt that I've made. I can understand about it taking a long time... I spent a two or three of months just getting the collar and cuffs embroidered. I'll probably move on to the front, doing the embroidery alongside the keyhole opening, then the sleeves, before finishing the front and the back. As far as the article, I'd love to see it. I've had little to go on besides my own observations and things based on other shirts of the same general time frame. I have other photos of it that I took, but I didn't have the luxury of taking it out of the case and looking from all angles.

Hey Alex, thanks for posting these pictures. I'd been admiring your embroidery for some time, but it's really cool to see where you got the design from and how much effort you've put into researching its construction. You're very detailed-oriented. (Of course, I knew that, but it's cool to see where you get your details FROM.)

Sometime I'll have to bug you to show me more pictures from your trip.

I've got a lot more research pictures but I still need to take the time to sort them and organize them. As soon as I'm done though, we'll probably have a photo slideshow or something...

not a problem! I've mostly done blackwork, like this, but I'm planning on playing with other period embroidery styles here very soon as I get more garb made.

*jaw drops* Wow! You never (either of you, actually) cease to amaze me with your craftiness! (or is that spelled with a y?) Very nice, I can't wait to see it finished
