Yep, it's an update

The steroid injections I had done in my back last week seem to have worked. The pain is pretty much gone and I'm starting to feel normal again. There's still some numbness in my right leg and foot and it seems that leg is a little weaker than the left - my first day back at work was yesterday, and by the end of the day the right leg was achy and I was tired. I have a follow-up next week, so the doctor just wants to wait and see how the numbness is by then. If it's still numb, he may order another MRI to see if there's herniation on the right side - which would mean a round of shots for that side as well. The numbness is definitely better today than it was a week ago, so I'm hoping it's gone by next Friday.

Very excited to see Serenity this week. We saw a preview screening back in June (July?) but at that point the movie wasn't quite finished. The sound was rough in spots. I'm really looking forward to seeing it again, even though I know what's going to happen. And we have friends going with us who are new "Firefly" fans, so it'll be cool to hear what they think.

I had a pretty good birthday this year. I was off work (my original plans for this past weekend were to do the Breast Cancer 3-Day, but the herniated disk shot that plan all to heck) from Thursday to Tuesday. I played a lot of World of Warcraft, watched a lot of TV, and even managed a couple of movies. We had dinner at Longhorn's Steakhouse on Saturday with spoondave and heldincontempt, which was tons of fun - good margaritas (I highly recommend their Desert Pear margarita) and really good steak. Tuesday, the day of my birthday, I felt pretty good so John and I decided to get out of the house. We headed for King of Prussia and had dinner at Mesa Fresh Mexican Grill (awesome food); I picked up a copy of the complete "Chronicles of Narnia" to read in advance of the movie coming out in December and got a book of crossword puzzles off the bargain rack. I can't believe how hard it is to find hardback spiral-bound crossword or logic puzzle books. I don't like the cheaper paper ones because I erase too much and I end up tearing a hole in the paper, which usually ruins the puzzle I'm working on and sometimes the one of the next page. (If anyone knows a good source for spiral-bound hardback puzzle books please let me know. :) )

OK, that's it for now. I'm sure I'll be back to talk about seeing "Serenity" in a couple of days. :)
