If they can understand basic arithmetic, you can use it to illustrate true and false. 1+1=2 is true; 1+2=2 is false; 1+2=3 is true. You can even make a game of it using readily available objects in different combinations and having them tell you if the answer is true or false. Once they have the concept of true and false, then apply it to reading comprehensive.
