This is something that I've mused about on my own in the past, but something in one of my classes has brought it to mind again, so I thought I would get some outside views.
A woman is discriminated against at her workplace because of her gender.  After many years of this, she is promoted.  She then proceeds to discriminate against the men who report ( Read more... )

It is absolutely not more acceptable, and I would argue less so, because she should understand from her own experience. But, humans are humans, and that rarely actually works out. s
But, in reality, discrimination is usually worse (more harsh) once the roles have reversed and the former victim is now the perpetrator.

I would say it is the same as far as the recipient is concerned, but the person doing it has not even a stupidity or culture defense for doing so. And if she is doing it by choice for revenge, then I feel that she is less is a worse person.

As someone who has been discriminated against neither is right. I have to fall back on the "two wrongs don't make a right" saying. Discrimination is discrimination, the problem is that because she is a woman the men would have a harder time proving discrimination. Women have fought hard for equal rights in the workplace and often we are still fighting but that does not give us a right to dish out to others what has been done to us. Plus, anyone in a supervisory position needs to have a working relationship with their subordinates in order to successfully function so she is undermining herself by sabotaging her promotion in discriminating against her own staff.

The discrimination itself is equally morally wrong, no matter who does it.

However, the psychic damage to her as a perpetrator may be higher than it was to the men who discriminated against her out of enculturated prejudice.
