I mourned the day I fell in love with Jane Austen's novels. It made me curious, or hungry rather, about other Regency-period novels and adaptations.
I've never warmed up to her Emma novel though. As much as I tried liking the characters and the 1996 movie adaptation, it did not blew me away like Persuasion and, Sense and sensibility. And of course, Pride and prejudice, but that's too overrated at times, so I shall not touch on that ^____^"
BUT! Lo and behold, BBC made another adaptation of Emma in 2009, which I did not realize till recently. And I just have one word to say.
WOW.
It totally blew me away! I immediately fell in love with the storyline, and for the first time, I find myself liking Emma, whom I did not before. Moreover, Jonny Lee Miller's portrayal of Mr Knightley is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Jeremy Northam's! I snorted and laughed at the latter's. But JLM? *swoon* He made me believe in Mr Knightley.
And before I knew it, my 8GB iTouch is filled with Jane Austen's adaptation....
And now I'm whining non-stop because I fell for North & South.
DO YOU GUYS ACTUALLY KNOW RICHARD ARMITAGE??
I'm annoyed with myself cause my iTouch lacked space for North and South file!!!!!! Curse you 8gb!!!
Oh well. I shall console myself with JLM's interpretation of George Knightley.
‘Whom are you going to dance with?’ asked Mr.
Knightley.
She hesitated a moment, and then replied, ‘With you, if
you will ask me.’
‘Will you?’ said he, offering his hand.
‘Indeed I will. You have shewn that you can dance,
and you know we are not really so much brother and
sister as to make it at all improper.’
‘Brother and sister! no, indeed.’
