024 ▌Accidental Recording [video]

[The Doctor has, thus far, conspicuously been absent from the flat and work and life in general this morning. There's a very good reason for this. Right now he's taking advantage of it being the middle of the day and being the only person in the flat to be in the hammock watching tv with the blanket pulled up to his eyeballs, as all sick people do ( Read more... )

[Rose went to work this morning, assuming the Doctor was busy with his own work. There's a great deal to do at Cinna's anyway with the holidays coming up. Everyone wants to make an appointment, change an appointment or buy a holiday dress. She's been there since before the store opened so she doesn't feel the slightest bit guilty when she forwards the phones to her device and slips out to get some Christmas shopping done and drop things at the flat.

She comes into the flat with several bags in hand and places them on the floor next to the door, observing the Doctor with a worried look. She approaches the hammock quietly, slipping her heels off at the door as well and leans over the hammock, hand going to the Doctor's forward to check for a fever.]

[He was in that odd stage between sleep and not-quite-being-there-yet when she came in, and between the tv, being congested, and that, doesn't register it all that well. Until she comes over and checks his forehead, at which point he startles.]

When did you get here?

[She winces a bit apologetically.]

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Just showed up now. Checkin' to see if you've got a fever.

[Really he just wants to hide the nose. That and he's uncomfortable not being completely at his best. Mostly the nose right now.]

Sometimes. Hard to tell externally with us. Changes too quickly. How are you?

It helps if you throw things at them. [She's still got that weird, ridiculous smile and the forced cheer.]

[Yeah that's not getting creepy at all.]

Does it? I only thought that worked if you were watching a play.

Well that'd just be rude and it makes me feel better. The throwing things at the TV, not the rude. Of course you have to clean it up later but still very satisfying. Also sucking the little popcorn pices up in the vacuum. Sorta fun.

[ooc: I am going to shoot lj if they don't stop eating my replies.]

I've been told rudeness is a particular trait of this regeneration. Several times, actually. I wonder if it's more rude to tell people they're being rude or to just let them continue being rude unknowingly.

[The voice on the device sounds a bit congested as well.]

Granted, I don't understand the telly as well as I should and definitely not the advances it may have made in the last few decades but...I don't think it can hear you.

Are you all right, Doctor?

I'd think not, but it does always add that nice bit of 'I literally told you so' when their own actions result in what you were saying was going to happen. I don't understand it either - nearly universal reaction, yelling at inanimate objects like they can hear you.

Are you all... with the nose?

[That is a sigh of relief. It just might not sound like it. At least she's not alone.]

Oh Thank Merlin, it's not just me. Yes. Very much. Bright red.

[There's a mutual relief type thing happening.]

I wonder if it counts as schadenfreude if you're just pleased you're not alone rather than actively taking pleasure. It would be nice if they did something more interesting than attempt to blind you from the middle of your own face.

[ The Doctor is not feeling particularly sympathetic to his other self, really, for any particular reason, but he is a curious man, and seeing the loud, bright tenth regeneration being quiet is a new and strange thing. He sticks his head into the doorway and inquires. ]

What's wrong with you?

[He fairly well burrows into the hammock and blanket simultaneously. At this point he's less okay with his other self finding him than he is with any combination of their companions.]

Sick. Very sick, you'll catch it. I'm fine. Napping.

I don't remember what it's called. They're all honestly starting to run together - I'm getting the distinct impression nothing interesting comes on until the evening and I haven't been able to get the daft thing to receive more than the basic 524 channels, which rules out most of the better things anyway.

I think this has got a platypus in it. I must have changed the channel earlier; I'm positive there wasn't one before.
