My dad generously gave me a home made certificate/IOU "$200 towards books/DVDs of your choice" for Christmas. I had a lot of unique items on my list and he wasn't able to find them in time. My question to you is, how would you spend $200 towards books?

I guess it depends on how many books I want at the time. More than likely, because I'm lazy, I'd just go through my Amazon wishlist and get all of those (or as many as possible, depending on how much they cost). If I wanted to really stretch out that $200, though, I'd go to a secondhand store/used book store/library sale and come home with a new library of my own. Depending on prices at those places, you could get 100 new books, easy.

Though, I still kind of stand by the Amazon one. I'm more likely to be able to afford used books on my own, rather than brand new books at almost or near-full price.

I'm definitely planning on going to used book stores. I enjoy looking through their stock! :)

I envy you. Have fun! Sometimes you can get really lucky looking through their stuff. It's almost like garage-sale finds: some people just don't know what they're getting rid of, and it's our gain!
