The are so many factors to consider, even if you bar all word games (e.g. The way you say it the pygmies could either be populating the island or 26 miles from any land, and the fact that beavers can swim, and the fact that the way you phrase it leads the reader to assume the islandis 26 miles away from the mainland but never really say that) Theres currents (consistency, strength, direction) and Numbers to consider (How long a generation is, how many kids a couple of pygmies spawn in a generation, the starting number of Pygmies, How big each pygmy that goes into the dam is, how many beavers it takes to drag a pygmy into position) Also there is the questions about the size of the dam, does it have to be complete or just complete enough for the beavers to jump to the mainland, does the top of the dam have to stick out of the water or just be high enough to allow the beavers to walk across, do they even need to cross it or are they building it for novelty value only?
