Are you a scindie?

There truly is nothing new under the sun. Here I thought I was inventing a new word that merged two different styles, only to soon look it up and find out that I am rather unoriginal at best. Le sigh.

In other news, they should make a U.S. version of this commercial: WARNING, VERY GRAPHIC

gendercide, scary, safety first, yes you will someday die, stupid as a salesman at your door, killers, random, research

:/ that PSA. On the one hand, yes, that's probably a good representation of what an accident is like. It's the cause-and-effect that bothers me. "This will [only] happen to you if you do something BAD like texting." Yes, texting while driving is a bad idea. It increases the probability of getting into an accident. (So does drinking. And speeding. And being tired.) But it's far from a sure thing, "If you text, this will happen." Worse, this can happen even if you do everything right. I know more than one person who's been hit while stopped at a red light--and some of them were from before cell phones were commonplace, so I doubt texting was involved.

I guess it just seems kind of heavy-handed. TEXTING WILL MURDER YOUR FRIENDS. Maybe because it makes it seem like so much is in your control (if you don't text, this won't happen) when nothing is really in our control, and shit like that happens sometimes no matter how good you are.

It's full of logical fallacies, yes. I just notice that commercials/infomercials with "shock value" tend to be better remembered, especially in such a desensitized culture.

That happens to me too.

Most are head-bash worthy in my opinion and make me further realize that some should not continue their gene pools.
