I either don't need much sleep or I'm permanently running on adrenaline.

I don't sleep much, about 5 hours usually. :)

Oh, I need more than that. In the end I got 6 and a bit last night. I feel fine, it tends to 'hit me' when I sit down and relax in front of a film, or have a huge meal, or just generally stop ....sadly something I only tend to do in the company of others. I have actually fallen asleep at my own gatherings!

Sleep is a strange thing.
I used to have terrible trouble getting to sleep, but very recently (literally in the past fortnight or so) my insomnia has switched sides and I'm waking up early in the morning no matter how late I go to bed, but not having much trouble drifting off.

Sleep is so weird - nobody really knows what it's for, but we do know that not having it can kill some people faster than going without food.
It's a very individual thing and changes over time.

Doctors can never agree on how much people should have.
A couple of years ago I read that six hours was the optimal amount of sleep, then it was eight, then nine.

Sleep research is bloody interesting though.

Ultimately, if you don't feel tired you're probably getting enough sleep. I try and get eight hours personally, but I can survive on six during the week if I can catch up at the weekend.

I'm a big fan of afternoon naps too. Especially if I can find a patch of sun on my bed to lye naked in after a particularly hot bath.
Mmmmmmmmm.
=D
