being thankful

Nov 28, 2010 12:01

Even though I have lots and lots to be thankful for (family - both biological and chosen, friends, job, and house being high on that list), I mostly can't stop thinking how thankful I am that no one was seriously hurt in the car accident we were in last weekend.

Oh my gosh. I hadn't heard about any of this. (I rarely go to Facebook anymore.) I read all kinds of horror stories about that night - like how MNDOT drivers couldn't even make it to the trucks - but didn't know that anyone I knew was out. Smae and Al were supposed to come to my house that night, but Smae wasn't feeling well so they stayed home. Thank goodness.

So glad you guys are ok! That was scary just to read about.

Yeah, I think it is a good thing it happened early (1030pm, probably one of the first of the 400+ accidents that night), because the police & fire people got there very fast. Later it would have been so busy with accidents and crowded with traffic, and all the on-call/extra people were having a hard time getting in. The ice was crazy. The firefighters could barely walk around even with their boots & such.

Hey, off topic, but when did Joe get an Element? I thought he had a blue mini with a white stripe?

Um, I don't know... quite a while ago. Long enough ago that this is the 2nd time it has been hit while driving on 62. :P

I'm glad you're OK. That was one freaky storm - we were taking two cars to church, and after my wife watched me swap ends twice and slide into the street just backing down our long hilly driveway, she decided that she wasn't going after all. (I went because there was no way to get back up the driveway!) And that was Sunday morning after the roads were sanded and salted...

I wonder how the truck started on fire?

Yeah, it was really bizarre. The way it was raining today made me nervous driving, but I was trying to tell myself that such freaky weather couldn't happen again so soon!

My guess on the truck is that when it 360'd, it hit the median in just the right way that the gas tank/line broke.
