You realize that there is no longer anything you can do to help Miguel. Getting the police's attention, you shout from the closet that you are unarmed and surrendering. They tell you to come out of the closet with your hands up, and you do as you are told.
You tell them the whole story of what happened to you, and how you got in the closet. Paulo confirms your story, and he apologizes for putting you in the middle of this situation. The police officers aren't sure what to think, so they bring you down to the station with Paulo.
The next morning, Paulo finds himself on a flight back to Portugal. You are told that he had performed illegal abortions in that country, but that is all you are told. Meanwhile you are kept overnight, but after many questions and corroborating your story, you are freed to go. Paulo is sentenced to 8 years in prison for his crime, but you are able to keep in touch with him, and he visits you after he has served his time.
