Whoa...

I got some news yesterday that kind of rattled me.  Sally called to tell me that her son, my ex, the father of my two oldest children has testicular cancer.  As soon as she uttered those two words, my jaw dropped.  I am rarely speechless, but that time I was.  I suppose it was a good thing that I was at a loss for words because she poured her heart ( Read more... )

OMG. That's terrible news! I'm sorry. I forget, do you live close to your ex, so the kid's could maybe go and see him? I will definetly say a prayer for him.

Cancer is always a worry of mine. My last 3 paps were off. And I was supposed to have a follow up in August and I skipped it. My mother had uterine cancer when she was 42. She had a hysterectomy and was fine. I hope it's not a genetic thing for me.

Keep me posted on his condition.

He lives about 4-5 miles from us. I will only take them to see him if they ask. Or if he asks and they agree. They understand that he needs all the support he can get so I don't think it'll be a problem. Like I said in my post, I'm keeping a close eye on them. This is a very difficult thing for them to handle as you might imagine.

Cancer is a worry of mine too as it runs in my mother's side of the family. This recent turn of events was a reality check for me. I also worry about whether my kids are pre-disposed for getting cancer now.

Thanks for the well wishes :) I will be certain to pass them on.

I'm sorry to hear that, Angie. There is always hope that he will come out of this okay. I hope your kids will be okay, too.

Thanks Irene. As much as I've bitched about him in the past, this is something that I never would've wished on him. I hope he has it in him to fight. He has 2 other kids besides Meg and Cory that are counting on him.
