I'm so glad that you saw the psych and got some medicine. I am doing so much better now on 150mg. of Effexor xr. My dr. told me when I started that it would take a month or so before I felt any different. And it actually took longer than a month. I just noticed a few days ago, that I finally have a sense of well being and contentment. It feels go to feel good, finally.

I did try the 225mg. dose that my dr. wanted me to try, and it was too high. It gave me headaches. 150mg. seems to be the magic I need for right now.

If you want to read up on Effexor, go to this site: http://www.crazymeds.org/
Look on the left of the page, and scroll down til you see Effexor. I like this site, it's very informative.

Keep me posted on how you're doing and feeling, ok?

(((hugs)))

Thanks for the link. That was an interesting read. I hope I get to the point you're at. I so want to feel better.

Don't worry, I'll be posting about how I'm doing. I want to document it so I can keep track and also tell my doc about it.

I was on a couple months or so before I felt like I do now. I went to a couple of appt.'s and told my psych that i was still slightly depressed. He assured me to stay on track, so I did, and I started feeling good. So, give it two or three months, before you decide it isn't working.

Are you just depressed or are you having anxiety/panic attacks too? If so I feel for you, I wouldnt wish those terrible things on my worst enemy seriously. Anyway, when I took Effexor for a while the first month I dropped weight quickly, my pants were literally sliding down. I guess I felt that was a plus though. Although into the 2 or 3 month it slacked up and stopped. I also seemed to not use an asthma inhaler as much nor did I have much of a hang over back then whenever I went out drinking? Seems like it must be something in it that kinda pumps you up? Maybe its the norepinephrine being more available with it? Well, I hope it works for you. Take care...... T

Hey T! I'm mostly depressed but I have the occasional anxiety/panic attack mixed in. I've found that one of the immediate side effects was a loss of appetite. I'm just not hungry anymore. Good thing for me though. I could stand to lose a few pounds.

Glad to hear the p-doc appt went well. I'm sure the meds will be an adjustment at first. They will most likely change the dosage once they see how you do for a while. Physical exams... Holy moley! I need one too but I keep putting it off. For me, it's more of the genetic predispositions to certain diseases that scare the crap out of me... Good for you, though. It's good that you're taking an active part in your own health and well-being.

I've been on a self imposed hiatus from internet stuff (at least until after the 4th of July), but I came off of it just to say hi to you and to offer my support. I still have my blog active at http://magazinesmiles.blogspot.com/

Take care. I'll be lurking. :)
