I watch the vegancooking community, and recently started tracking trashy_eats (after it was featured in the Community Spotlight), too.

Wow.

Talk about "... and never the twain shall meet."

*Wisconsin/trashy eats joke goes here*

Are you vegan?

Yeah -- I also live in the cheese curd capital of Wisconsin. There is no escaping the trash.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, but my son is allergic (like, actual possibility-of-anaphylaxic-reaction allergic) to cow's milk and eggs. So we get a lot of ingriedient-subbing pointers from vegan recipes.

I just joined this group and added a recipe:

"The Executioner"

Open can of Spam.

Squirt canned cheese food on it.

Eat.

24 pieces of Tofurkey lunchmeat, stacked and covered in "melted" Follow Your Heart cheddar. LOL

For an even trashier experience, get the new pouch-pack of Spam, rip open the top, and smoosh the spamcake out an inch at a time. Squirt cheese, bite off, repeat.

Actually, now that Daiya brand cheese exists, I could make all of the four recipes I scrolled through on that community, vegan-style. And so can you! Plus Daiya is probably cheaper for you to get since it is made in Wisconsin. (Of course the Wisconsin came up with the first actually TASTY vegan cheese alternative!)

Must. Source. Now.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Did you ever see this recipe for the vegan version of the KFC Double Down? Hilarious.

OMG, AWESOME. It sounds like too much effort to make (I hate cooking like woah) but I want to try it. For a couple of bites.

Yeah, it looks like the labor involved with assembling this beast would be "taxing," to say the least. But if someone else wanted to make it ... . Maybe you can con a friend (not me -- ha!) into tackling this recipe for your birthday next year!

I glanced at the latter comm; I'm guessing my preference for Mac n'Cheese with ketchup and Tabasco qualifies (srsly, can't stand it any other way, must have sugary tomato sauce and vinegar-pepper sauce with the cheese).

not unless you add coco puffs, marshmallows, or bacon bits. or maybe all 3! that comm seriously makes me nauseous

I have also been watching vegancooking since you mentioned it in a previous post about a year ago. Very educational. Trashy eats, on the other hand, might be the end of me. (o:
