I completely agree. Unconditional love and lifelong commitment. I think that's what we're all looking for.

Out of curiosity, what did she die of? It sounds like she was mentally there until the end.

You're right - she was completely mentally there until the end. She had many, many health problems (heart-related, bacterial infection, arthritis) and she was very, very small (probably about 75-80 pounds) so her body just could not fight any more. She was an amazingly strong woman, but you can't fight your own body after a certain point. She would have been 82 next Friday.

Note to self: do not read Amanda's blog in public places. This is the second time I've cried reading your blog :). As you've already said, it such a shining example of unconditional, steadfast love. I am glad he is writing about it.
