Never saw Audition or Funny Games. I can get behind the others, except for Blair Witch. Sorry. I thought the last 4 minutes were sort of scary, except that, by that point, I basically had a massive headache from the badly-lit, shaky camerawork, and was pretty bored with the characters and their going-in-circles journey, which really diminished the power of those few powerful images. I liked the beginning of that film and thought they should have done more of that: backstory and legends.
Yeah, a lot of people had a bad reaction to Blair Witch. I too wish they had done a little more backstory early on.
I took it over to my parents to watch and my dad kept getting angry at the characters and calling them idiots. Finally, I figured out that he didn't realize it was fictional and told him. He was surprised. I think not knowing would have made it a very different movie.
Audition and Funny Games are pretty brutal movies. Scary, but brutal!
